The Benefits of a Dental Bridge

Are you missing several teeth? Tooth loss is an incredibly common condition experienced by patients of all ages and experiences. It can be caused by excessive tooth decay, gum disease or dental trauma. No matter what the cause of your tooth loss, it is very important to correct the gaps created by missing teeth. Leaving these gaps unattended can lead to further damage to your existing, healthy teeth as well as your gums and jaw.

There are several methods available for correcting tooth loss. One of the most popular methods of restoration is to receive a dental bridge. A dental bridge is literally used to bridge the gap created by a missing tooth or teeth. Dental bridges are strong, stable and natural looking. Many of our patients prefer a dental bridge to a removable partial denture for these reasons.

Dental bridges are anchored with dental implants or with abutments to the surrounding teeth. Then the gap, whether it is one or several teeth being replaced, is filled with artificial teeth. The abutments anchor the bridge, preventing it from shifting or moving during chewing.

If you are missing one or many teeth, it is important to restore your smile just as soon as possible. Contact Lerner & Lemongello today to schedule your consultation.

Replacing Missing Teeth with Dental Implants in Palm Beach Gardens.

Missing teeth have long been replaced with fixed bridges or dentures.  However, more recently there has been a trend towards replacing missing teeth with dental implants which are a more comfortable and permanent solution. Implants, when placed and restored by an experienced dentist will look and feel like your own natural teeth and be virtually indistinguishable from real teeth.

Tooth loss can occur for a number of reasons including neglecting your teeth and gums with poor diet and poor hygiene.  It can occur naturally from age and also due to trauma.  The loss of teeth can have a significant impact on a person’s self esteem due to the esthetic implications as well as causing bite problems and difficulties in eating.

A major advantage of dental implants is that they do not require preparation or drilling of neighboring healthy teeth and they do not require special brushes and extra care for oral hygiene. When teeth are lost bone loss of the jaw occurs after some time and dental implants slow this process down and prevent excessive loss of your bone structure.

Dental implants are one of the most successful ways to replace missing teeth and have a very high success rate. How long they last will depend on a number of factors including the skill of your dentist, the surgeon and how well you look after the health of your teeth and gums once complete.  Dr. Lerner and Dr. Lemongello and our office staff have the skill and expertice all in a 5 star environment to meet the needs of their patients.

Treatment of a missing tooth

Often times there can be more than one good solution to a dental problem such as a missing tooth.  Even though implants have proven to be a highly successful restorative option, there are patients who are not good candidates, or do not wish to pursue this option.  If implant surgery is not an option the time tested traditional treatment with a fixed bridge provides an excellent restorative option and predictable long term success.  Today we completed a bridge that is undetectable as a missing tooth.
